I quickly try out a whole load of fighting games that (for the most part) exclusively feature female playable characters. We cover a lot of anime-style 2D fighters, a couple of 3D novelties, and a bunch of Japanese pro-wrestling games. I had a lot of fun despite lacking in skill and technique! Games played:
-Seifuku Densetsu (SNES, 1994), where I gained a fear of fire.
-Super V.G. (SNES, 1995), where I avoided the adult content of the rest of the series.
-Bishōjo Senshi Sailor Moon Super S: Zenin Sanka!! Shuyaku Sōdatsusen (SNES, 1996), where I identified with Sailor Jupiter.
-Catfight (PC, 1996), where my computer ran this blatant Mortal Kombat clone way too fast.
-Tōki Denshō: Angel Eyes (PSX, 1996), where I loved the intentional mashup of hand-pixelled and pre-rendered character sprites.
-Asuka 120% Limited Burning Fest (Saturn, 1997), where I got to play as a girl who fights using chemistry!
-SNK Gals Fighters (NGPC, 2000), where I made progress and felt powerful despite still only button-mashing.
-Saber Marionette J: Battle Sabers (PSX, 1997), where I enjoyed the chunky polygons and overused voice clips.
-Warpath: Jurassic Park (PSX, 1999), where I admitted that some of the dinosaurs might be male, but who can say?
-Then the wrestling games: Cutie Suzuki no Ringside Angel (SMD, 1990); Fire Pro Joshi All-Star Dream Slam (SNES, 1994); Super Fire Pro Wrestling Queen’s Special (SNES, 1995); JWP Joshi Pro Wrestling: Pure Wrestle Queens (SNES, 1994); and Stardust Suplex (SNES, 1995).
